Beau Domaine: Brad Pitt skincare range expands to creams, a cleanser and more

Brad Pitt describes his genderless Beau Domaine skincare line as being “clean, green, and conscious” – oh, and he claims they actually work unlike other products he’s tried

Brad Pitt – yes, the same Brad Pitt from Hollywood – has launched a new skincare line called Beau Domaine.

He describes it as “clean, green and conscious” and said it’s based on the idea of “primeval beauty…”

We’re not entirely sure what the latter means but we do know that the ingredients in his collection all stem for a vineyard he bought when he was with Angelina Jolie, back in 201.

Below we explain more about the new skincare line, how Brad Pitt claims its different from what else is on the market, and where to buy it.

What is Beau Domaine?

Beau Domaine is the first skincare collection from Hollywood actor Brad Pitt. The range now includes seven products – a cleansing emulsion, a serum, three face creams (with different textures), and a hand cream.

Each one is listed as using vegan ingredients that are “96 to 99% from natural origin” and include grapes grown on Pitt’s Chateau Miraval vineyard in Provence, France.

The brand claims to use the cyclical power of nature to produce products that help people reconnect with nature and there is a “strict blacklist” of ingredients.

This means there are no preservatives (parabens, phenoxyethanol, MIT, triclosan, chlorphenesin, BHA & BHT); no silicones, microplastics, mineral, and synthetic oils, animal or animal-origin ingredients, sulphated surfactants, and no Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA).

Each of these ingredients has been shown to be potentially damaging to the skin, or the environment. As Beau Domaine says, these ingredients “are subject of controversy regarding the environment or the natural balance of your body.”

However, we should add that there is some controversy over “clean beauty” claims and more research is needed to confirm some of these findings.

Beau Domaine prices

The pricing has changed quite a bit since launch and is now more accessible, though it’s still positioned in the luxury category. The brand also offers a 20% discount on subscription purchases. The prices are as follows:

As part of its “conscious claims”, Beau Domaine is also a sustainable brand. The caps on the bottles are made from old wine casks from the Miraval vineyard.

Where to buy Beau Domaine

Beau Domaine Skincare is available across Europe, the US, Asia and Oceania. Free UK shipping is available on orders over £59.

Why is Beau Domaine different?

The Brad Pitt skincare line has been developed by two scientists – Professor Pierre-Louis Teissedre from Bordeaux University and Professor Nicolas Lévy.

Professor Teissedre specialises in grapes and wine compounds and is said to have spent the past decade “observing and studying numerous grape varietals and combinations” to find the most potent antioxidants.

For treating disease, as well as helping with skin concerns. He has patented an active compound called GSM10, which is said to maximise the antioxidative powers and efficacy in cosmetics.

Professor Lévy is professor of Human and Medical Genetics and is an expert in the process, and “pathological mechanisms” of ageing. He is the co-founder or a biotech company focused on developing medicines for rare diseases called ProGeLife and this company has developed an active compound called ProGR3. This is said to be capable of slowing down the effects of ageing.

Both of these active compounds are found in the Brad Pitt skincare line.

GSM10 is made from a combination of marc from Grenache seeds, Syrah seeds and skins associated with an unnamed “postbiotic microorganism” said to help the skin’s microbiome. Beau Domaine claims GSM10 is a proven antioxidant that helps prevent the loss of collagen that the skin goes through as we get older. Collagen is often called “scaffolding” for the skin and, alongside elastin, is what makes our skin look young.

ProGR3 combines three natural molecules that are found in plant extracts, vine sarments, camomile and green tea. It has been scientifically shown to help reduce the toxicity of progerin which is a protein linked to ageing.

Brad Pitt announced his skincare line in an interview with Vogue magazine in which he said he would not have launched the brand “unless we felt there was something valid here, something original, something that worked: adding, “I get sent stuff all the time and…ugh. But I was really surprised by the results [from Beau Domaine] and that, for me, made it worth going forward.”

According to the website, “Beau Domaine is built on values that come from the Earth, shared by its cofounders, the Perrin family, and Brad Pitt, with his love for Provence’s original beauty.

“It is an invitation to reconnect with nature and the natural rhythm of things, being attuned to the environment, its soils, its plants and its fruit. It is producing less but better, with quality products and know-how, sourced with artisanal, local and family partners.”
