Best anti-aging cream for men with wrinkles and fine lines

Best anti-ageing cream for men for wrinkles, fine lines and roughness

It’s never too late to introduce an anti-ageing cream for men to your skincare routine – here are the best products we’ve tried to get rid of wrinkles, fine lines and roughness

A s soon as we hit 25, our skin is technically classed as mature meaning that the soon you up your game when it comes to looking after your skin, particularly on your face, the better the results. And the best place to start is with wrinkle-reducing, anti-ageing products for men.

This is because, as we get older, skin loses elasticity and stops producing as much collagen. The loss of more and more collagen means your face is more prone to wrinkles because collagen is what keeps your skin tight. Without it, your skin gets saggier. Another culprit of skin ageing is UV rays from the Sun. This is because they damage the fibres in your skin called elastin which lead to your skin starting to sag, stretch and wrinkle.

The good news is you can do something about it. There are plenty of anti-ageing creams for men that will help slow down the ageing process and improve the condition of your skin. They’re not going to take ten years off you, but they can help you slow down the next ten years. As long as you use them regularly (and get better at applying SPF…)

Don’t be put off that the majority of anti-ageing products are targeted at women, either. Although mens’ skin is slightly thicker, it still needs the same boost. Plus there are lots of anti-ageing creams designed for men specifically.

Here are our favourites.

Anti-aging cream for men: What to look out for

A particularly good ingredient in anti-ageing creams for men is Vitamin C. That’s because it helps neutralise the free radicals in your body that lead to oxidative stress. This is when the free radicals in your body outnumber the antioxidants, which can lead to, amongst other things, premature ageing of your skin.

MBMAN ANTI-AGEING TIPS

Always use SPF: Sun damage is the biggest culprit of premature skin ageing.

Exfoliate: Clearing dead skin cells helps your skincare products penetrate the skin and work more effectively.

Drink more water: One of the key features of youthful skin is that it’s plump and hydrated. Drinking more water will help restore this hydration.

Anti-ageing products with Vitamin C are a triple attack against ageing skin because they reduce any skin discolouration and dark spots, neutralise skin damage and stimulate collagen production.

Another anti-ageing ingredient you’ll want to look for is ceramides. All of us already have ceramides in your skin cells, but like collagen production, the older we get the less we have.

Therefore it’s crucial to give your ceramides a boost because their job is to maintain the moisture in your skin (meaning fewer wrinkles) and they prevent germs from the outside world entering your body. Anti-ageing products with ceramides help to keep your skin firm and make it smoother.

When your skin gets drier, those fines lines will become deeper and more apparent, making you look older. Therefore an ingredient to maintain the moisture of your skin is a must. Hyaluronic acid in anti-ageing products works as a sponge and locks in the maximum amount of water and moisture in your skin.

A retinol cream is just as effective for men as it is for women, so don’t be put off if most of these products seem to be targeted at the opposite sex. Retinol or Vitamin A is a really effective anti-aging ingredient that works well on dark spots, redness, wrinkles and acne. Be careful though as retinol products can cause irritation to the skin, so introduce them slowly if you choose to go down this route.

An extra benefit to your skincare routine is to use a moisturiser that also works as a sunscreen. It’s important to remember, though, that even if it does have SPF, you’re still very likely to need additional sunscreen to be fully protected from the sun. You’ll also want a moisturiser that contains both UVA and UVB protection for maximum defence.
